Our Designer:
Podium designer, founder and company owner DEANNA WRIGHT infuses PODIUM with over 25 years of extensive experience in fashion design and excellence in apparel manufacturing and distribution, as well as a life-long love and personal involvement with figure skating.
Deanna is highly regarded in the skating apparel world as the founder and owner of Dress Wright on Ice, a one-stop shop for all the clothing, skates and accessory needs for today’s skaters. The retail store in Mississauga, Ontario opened its doors in 1996. The thriving business soon added an On-line shopping experience to serve growing interest from national and international customers. Continuously incorporating the latest styles, fabrics, ornamentation and durable construction, Deanna’s designs have been sought after by local and national competitors alike.
Previously, Deanna has also designed and manufactured her own signature line of children’s clothing and served as Vice President of the internationally renowned apparel company, Sally Fourmy & Associates. During her association with Holiday Sportswear, Deanna’s designs for girl’s dresses were sold in international department stores including Eatons and Marks & Spencer. Building on the experience and strength of relationships from these endeavors, Deanna developed a top-rate team of manufacturers to create her unique designs at Dress Wright on Ice for individual competitive skaters, pairs and teams. Everything Deanna has done, from earning a degree in Physical Education to teaching High School Clothing and Textile, to her corporate and successful design experiences, has created a perfect synergy of skills that make her uniquely qualified to present Podium, her newest line of skating apparel for champions.
Learning to skate and perform as a child, Deanna eventually earned her Canadian Figure Skating Association Gold Medal in Ice Dance and Skills. Her life long commitment to skating and her intimate and personal understanding of what every skater needs in apparel and accessories helps every Podium skater on their own quest for that cherished moment in the spotlight. |
